Durante la cuarentena en 2020 aún había restricciones en Agosto y ahí fue cuando inicié ésta serie. Ese año miré mucho por la ventana y el jardín se convirtió en uno de mis lugares preferidos de la casa. Mi papá sembró plantas nuevas, de pronto porque pasamos más tiempo allí pudimos ver qué cosas se podían mejorar. Hubo muchos días soleados y alcancé a ver cómo florecían y crecían las plantas. Aunque había dibujado flores endémicas de Colombia, no todas las plantas del jardín son nativas. Sin pensarlo es una analogía de las personas que vivimos acá. Somos una mezcla de diferentes partes. Y ésto me motivó a dibujar.
En mi recorrido artístico el dibujo que hacía dependía de la fotografía como referencia. Aún la uso sobre todo las fotos que yo he tomado. Pero he querido explorar el dibujo de lo que veo al frente mío. El dibujo de la feijoa comenzó así, ví la planta y la comencé a dibujar primero en lápiz y luego con tinta. Pero esta vez la intención era dibujar en tinta china para no borrar. La tinta era la misma que me pidieron alguna vez en el colegio. Para mi ésto es un reto para mejorar mi dibujo.

During the quarantine in 2020 there were still restrictions in August and that is when I started this Series. That year I looked through the window a lot and the garden became my favorite place in the house. My dad planted new plants, maybe because we were spending more time there and we could see what we could improve. There were many sunny days and I was able to notice how plants grow and bloom. Even though I have drawn endemic Colombian flowers, not all garden plants are native. However, without knowing it became an analogy of the people who live here. We are a blend from different places. That motivated me to draw.
In my artistic journey the drawing I was making depended on photography as reference. I still use it especially with the pictures I take. But I’ve been wanting to explore drawing from what I see in front of me. The Feijoa drawing started this way, I saw this plant and I drew it, first in pencil and then with ink. But this time my intention was to draw with Chineses Ink so I wouldn’t erase. The same Ink I was asked for when I was in school. For me this is a challenge to improve my drawing.
